Robotic Technology Advancement in Surgery
Have you heard of robotic surgery? That is the advanced form of surgery and it is gaining more popularity by the day, especially in the advanced world. This type of surgery ensures surgical procedures are performed with greater precision, enhanced dexterity and greater visualization. It is minimally invasive, meaning the doctor will not have to push surgical knife into the patient too often. In the course of such surgeries, the surgeons depend partially on robots that are controlled by computers to perform the required procedures.
With the aid of the robots, the surgeons can get the procedures performed even in limited space. With the help of robots, the doctors will not find it difficult in the last to perform erstwhile complex surgical procedures. The robots are able to generate their own power supply and this makes it possible for them to function for hours and days on end. Surgical procedures that could have been limited by power supply can therefore be carried out using such robots. The computer on which they are controlled can be easily manipulated or programmed to make them switch position and focus as the surgeon wishes.
The beauty of it all is that the surgeon does not have to be in the same room as the patient while the robotic surgery is ongoing. The doctor will mostly be in the control room to manipulate and program the robot to get the job done. The surgeon will however be able to watch the surgical procedure via a 3-D camera linking the control room with the theatre. The surgeon will only have to signal the robot using his fingerprints and the signals are transmitted to the robot, giving specific instruction on how to get the job done. This kind of surgery will never require the surgeon to get his hands dirty.
